Build Software While Doing Real Work

The right software isn't getting made because the right people aren't making it, yet.

Inspiration

This project is inspired by a belief that a large segment of “code-adjacent” people are only inches away from creating incredibly useful software at work. Our mission is to find these people, get them across the gap, and position them to create impactful software.

Too much human toil exists at a systemic level in professional services relative to the capabilities of this age. Corporate workplaces are teeming with "low-hanging fruit" in the form of unsolved problems. This is a structural imbalance, which code-adjacent people can capitalize on as a means to bettering themselves and their companies.

We provide a technical "glide path" for business-minded people to enter into coding. Then position them to create impactful software while learning "just in time". The future will reward the ability to construct and evolve business systems.

What The Addin Is

Our solution is a single Excel Addin .XLAM file under 3MB. It requires no installation and usually no IT permissions. It does not collect any data from your machine. It is written entirely in VBA, or "macros", which is the reason you can run it without sysadmin approval.

Simplifying the Landscape

The Add-in breaks from conventional paradigms by internalizing all software layers in a single environment. Presentation, persistence, and business logic coexist in one Excel workbook.

This eliminates the need for external systems (like Power BI) which trade local coherence for external complexity. The workbook is the application, the data store, and the codebase.

Visible Code

The heart of the Addin is a system for organizing your domain into models comprised of fields, which are managed through a built-in form interface. The "background" code needed to support your models is wired on your behalf in real time. This code is visible, you just don't need to write it.

Invisible Code

The Add-in conceals gritty implementation code that would otherwise distract and bloat your codebase. A film director is not concerned with how screen pixels are colored—only with the scene being composed. Likewise, the Addin removes mechanical noise, so attention stays on domain structure and intent.

Write Potent Code

Low code, no code, and vibe code are misguided. The correct aim is "potent" code reflecting human intent accurately, economically and unceremoniously. The Addin is a force multiplier that magnifies potency of your code. It lets you express more, using less code.

More Thoughts & Ideas

Action Precedes Insight
That's why the product is free for individuals. Just follow along building a tutorial project with the Addin.

Your mind will overflow with ideas long before the tutorial concludes.
Learning is Kinesthetic
The best way to learn is with your hands. Learning cannot be delegated (vibe coding fails).

Building in context that matters—your workplace—amplifies learning exponentially.
Workplace as Idealized Hunting Ground
Workplace problems are not accessible or well-defined enough for outside software companies to pursue. This creates a market gap begging to be filled.

You possess an asymmetric knowledge advantage on your home territory. You can fill that market gap.
The Contrarian Truth
Studies show people prefer earning $50k when colleagues earn $25k over earning $100k when colleagues earn $200k.

Don't fall into this trap. Nobody compensates you for weekend tutorials either. Building solutions at work is effectively "paid learning with immediate application".

Knowledge and capability are the ultimate assets, and workplace problems offer an efficient path to acquire them.
